Untitled (from the series Nest),' 2020, much like the other sculptures from this series, references the formal components of architecture, acknowledging the symbolic importance of ornament and history beyond its aesthetic form. A contorted piece of stainless steel, visually similar to a safety railing, emerges from uncut stone. Hosnedlová contrasts the highly ornamented works of 'Nest,' as both a series and an installation, with the harsh functionality of public architecture. The inversion of the form and therefore the function additionally imbues the sculpture with a poetic irony, creating mementos or ruins of a world constructed from brutalist nostalgia and science fiction.
